FAQ

  • How does Stave House help my young person to understand musical theory?

Stave House is not like any other musical programme. It is based around characters and storytelling and uses hands on materials with bold animations.

  • Stave House looks like a primary method, how will it help my teenager?

The cartoon characters will help to take the pressure off from what up until now has been a daunting and heavy going slog process of trying to remember things. The visual characterisation of notes embeds in the mind and the imagination builds an idea of the characters rather than an abstract note name.

  • What do we need the board and magnets for?

Tactile learning. We use three senses instead of one and this is key to assisting focus and concentration! The board allows deconstruction of the learning, making it a more enjoyable process, as well as giving students physical ownership of the tasks.

  • We've heard this method is great for kids with Dyslexia, why is that?

It is visual and tactile, involving the use of more than one of the senses. The method uses non-conventional ways of teaching notation to embed musical concepts. The stories and characters allow students to make sense of complex musical concepts without being met by the usual barriers to learning. Stave House deconstructs the ideas and explains how to rebuild them so that students are left with intelligent distilled logic and a consciousness of what they are doing and why.
